Cat And Granny is one of those delightfully weird little games that I didn’t expect to get hooked on—but somehow did. Developed by Mirra Games and released in January 2025 (with a solid update in July), it’s a quirky, lighthearted simulator that’s clearly made with a sense of humor. It found its audience pretty quickly, especially among casual players who just want something fun and easy to jump into. No downloads, no fuss—you can just open it and start playing, which honestly makes it even more addictive.

The whole thing takes place in this cozy but slightly chaotic house, and you play as a mischievous orange tabby with a very specific (and kind of petty) goal: win back Granny’s full attention. The problem? There’s a new black cat in the house. And instead of, you know, getting along like a normal pet, you decide the best solution is to frame them for everything. So yeah—you spend your time knocking things over, setting up little “accidents,” and making sure Granny always blames the other cat. It’s ridiculous in the best way.

Gameplay Overview

At its core, Cat And Granny mixes slapstick humor with some light stealth mechanics, and that combo works surprisingly well. The house feels like a playground—everything’s interactive, breakable, or just waiting to be used in some chaotic scheme. What I really enjoyed was how unpredictable Granny can be. Her AI isn’t super complex, but that actually makes things funnier—sometimes she reacts exactly how you’d expect, and other times she completely surprises you.

The gameplay loop is simple: cause chaos, don’t get caught, and make sure the blame lands on the other cat. But even with that simplicity, it never really gets boring. It’s the kind of game I found myself playing in short bursts… and then accidentally spending way more time on than I planned.

Gameplay Highlights

Creative Chaos: You get to turn everyday objects into over-the-top disasters, and it never stops being funny.

Stealth Elements: Timing actually matters—you’ve got to sneak around and stay out of sight.

Reactive Environment: Granny’s reactions keep things fresh and unpredictable.

Lighthearted Competition: It’s less about fighting the other cat and more about outsmarting them.

What's the best way to play this game effectively?

Master the “Cause → Escape → Blame” loop

Every successful move follows a pattern: create trouble, get out of sight, and let the black cat take the fall. Don’t linger after making a mess—your biggest advantage is staying unseen when Granny reacts.

Use chain reactions instead of single actions

One knocked vase is suspicious. A series of events (books falling → lamp tipping → noise across the room) creates confusion. The more indirect your chaos feels, the more likely Granny is to blame the other cat.

Stay near hiding spots

Before you act, always know where you’ll escape to—under tables, behind furniture, or around corners. Acting without an exit plan is the fastest way to get caught.

Watch Granny’s movement patterns

Granny isn’t random. She follows simple routines and reacts to sound. Learn her paths and timing so you strike when she’s distracted or far away.

Let the other cat do some work

Sometimes the smartest move is doing nothing. If the black cat is already near a mess, take advantage of that positioning instead of creating new chaos yourself.

Be subtle early, bold later

At the start, keep things small to avoid raising suspicion. Once Granny is already annoyed or confused, you can escalate with bigger, more dramatic setups.

Think like a trickster, not a destroyer

The goal isn’t maximum destruction—it’s convincing misdirection. The cleaner your setup, the funnier (and more effective) the outcome.
